Shopping for a Pokémon card collector? Start with what they collect, how they store it and what they already own. Here are six ideas to consider, including a look at the Ripper prototype we are developing at PackSafe.
1. Card sleeves
Ask which size, brand and finish they use. Matching a collector’s existing setup is often more useful than guessing.
2. A display case or stand
A display can give a favorite card a place on the shelf. Check whether the card is raw, in a holder or professionally graded, then choose a display that fits.
3. A playmat
Look for artwork they like and a size that suits their card table or desk.
4. A card binder
Check their preferred page style and capacity. A collector building a set may want something different from someone storing only a few favorite cards.
5. The Ripper, a future gift idea
The Ripper is our manual trading card pack opener in development. The working prototype uses a thumb-operated slider to score the sealed top seam. Load, slide, reveal: the tactile motion is part of the idea.
We are preparing for Kickstarter and planning a founder bundle with a black presentation box and a distinct Rippy collector card. Final contents, price, pack compatibility, age guidance and delivery estimates will be confirmed before launch. New Shopify preorders are paused, so do not plan on holiday delivery.

6. Packs from a set they collect
Ask which set or game they are interested in before buying. A gift card to their favorite card shop can leave the choice to them.
Before you buy
Check fit, availability and delivery timing. The thoughtful detail is choosing something that matches how this particular person collects.
